MONSTER (Illustration Friday)
Dr Jekyll drank his potions In a hat of his emotions Just to find It changed his mind With Mr Hyde's odd notions.
What a terrible case A monster without grace The drink was fizzy He went dizzy And had a scary face.
Thanks Unknown.. even though the image of the face is too small ideally, I like the expression. I cut this out of a film magazine about 6 years ago.. all I remember was he's a Belgian actor (I think). You're Unknown. ....:::::::o
Don't let the Belgians hear you say that! I don't know who he is precisely but he does exist, he was in a real film magazine of the European arty variety I think. I am baking a cup.
Excuse moi guys but Jacques Brel was a Belgian singer AND actor... BOOOOO on you two! But Celine Dion is NOT from Belgium! Nice illo MUSHROOM! Too bad! I thought it was you!!!! HeeHee!
PerlinMinter.. Ta At least I knew Belgian actors existed, and I'm willing to believe they have singers too! Jacques Brel, or Jack Brill, is a name I recogniose but don't think I've seen any of his films. No I don't look like that (all the time).
Well, I'm glad merlinprincesse cleared up the mystery of the missing Belgian singer/actor... but what about that nutty squirrel up top his hat? Belgian also? Jacques (or Jack) Squirrel? Also not familiar with Ogden's Flake Tobacco... only sold in the UK?... or Belgium?
PearlingMinter.. i'll make a note of that, cheers for the info and Jaque Brel Enlightenment!
Twisselman.. Ogden's Nut Gone Flake Tobacco is the Small Faces' last album, of UK origin though sold Stateside, and that's the cover. The original vinyl cover was round with inlayered hippy pics of the band and designed like a tobacco tin. Steve Marriot left for Humble Pie andmost of remaining members hooked up with Rod Stewart. There are some nice tracks on this album with a storyline on the B side told by Stanley Unwin linking up the songs. The squirrel is an optional extra.
Hercule Poirot was Belgian??? OMG I thought he was a snob American! And for the records, I don't know the Belgian actor on your illo... Jacques Brel was only an example... BTW, I also thought he was the ONLY Belgian actor... I love Jack Squirril thouhg! :))))))
Magnifique!! From confusion to clarity. That's impressive, now I'll have a film to look out for and become knowledgeable on another Belgian actor. It's such an education!
Modroom- Thanks for the clarification on the tobacco tin... will have to look for it... vinyl only? Has it made it to CD? So this would have been late 60s? states?
Thanks Mush! I'm very educational! And I know a couple of American actors too. I think....But don't ask me their names.... YES THERE ARE AMERICAN ACTORS... And no! Will Shatner is NOT american...:)
Twisselman.. hello. The album is available on CD, and has I think always been available here in one form or another, so pretty likely it's to be found in sunny California. It's very rare to see a vinyl re-issue with the original round sleeve plus the layers. Came out here originally in '68. One day I will work out the link/ tag thing, but you'll get some details abiut it here.. www.makingtime.co.uk /rfr/ogdens. ....::::o
PearlingMinter.. Will Shatner is Canadian, even I know that! And I know there are American actors too... I did'nt realize I was so well educated!! ....:::::o

Very hallucinatory and well-made. And a great monster, that Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde guy.

Great collage - looks like its all in the mind's eye of a squirrel!
Truly monstrous - I thought Hercule Poirot was the only famous Belgian...

And for the records... I found who he is on Google! Benoit Poelvoorde! I'm soooooo gooooood!

Twisselman.. probably be better just to go to the homepage and forget the '/rfr/ogdens.' bit, then onto albums. Indeed.
Twisselman.. me again. That's bonkers, just tried it. Google finds it with 'small faces room for ravers.' Ahhh.
Ah...wonderful technique! I like the mixed media - most effective.
A doppelganger
in each resides,
Bad mood? Anger?
Blame it on Hyde!
Hehe, thanks Carla. Your observations are revelations! ...::::o
